Tanjiro is capable of competing with any monster, but what about Tanjiro’s rank in the Demon Slayer Corps?
Kanoe, which is the fourth position from the bottom, is Tanjiro’s ranking in the Demon Slayer Corps. The rest of the episode doesn’t see him advance in rank. Throughout a discussion with Inosuke during the Entertainment District storyline, his position is revealed.

In chapter #75, Tanjiro and Inosuke get together on a terrace in the Entertainment District to talk about where a monster is. Their mission commander and Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui, claims he might just have put them at risk. Tengen admits that until last night, he has not yet heard from Zenitsu. Tanjiro and Inosuke were instructed to quit the operation because of their protection because there was probably an upper-rank monster in the zone. There is little hope that slayers underneath the grade of Hashira would ever be able to destroy a formidable Rengoku because, recently, an upper-rank monster managed to do so. Tanjiro tells Inosuke that just because they hold the lowest status, no one can trust them.
The ten grades of the Demon Slayer Corps are Mizunoto, Mizunoe, Kanoto, Kanoe, Tsuchi-noto, Tsuchi-noe, Hinoto, Hinoe, Kinoto, and Kinoe, in order of lowest to the highest. Tanjiro is informed by Inosuke that they are four again from the bottom. They were once known as Mizu-noto, but they are now known as Kanoe. They were given the promotions after clearing the final selection test and spending time with Rengoku demon-hunting aboard the Mugen Train. Inosuke then exemplifies the capacity of a demon slayer to reveal their ranking. Your ranking will be displayed anywhere on your body by reciting a passcode and stretching. Inosuke demonstrates his grade on his palm while uttering his passcode. Inosuke claims that the unique Wisteria Flower Engraving technology is used to create the Demon Slayer Corps mark.
